Here has what I've been struggling with lately:
I want to be a better Christian. It's hard for me especially because I don't live in a very religious place, go to a very religious school, hang with a particularly religious crowd. But that's not a real excuse. It's hard for me because it should be hard, because doing the right thing isn't always the easiest thing. But I feel some times I write my faith off too easily- like I know it's always going to be there, so it doesn't matter if I don't devote every waking moment of my life to it.
I don't want to preach, because I don't think that gets anyone anywhere. I'd rather live through example, just so people could see how happy and good and complete you can be living through Christ, because I know it's possible. I can feel it in my heart. But I know I'm still holding something back.
There. Something about me personally. I told you I was boring! I feel so awkward posting about me, as I've avoided it for so long. I keep thinking people remember my old personal site and expect me to be the same person at 17 as I am at 20, when it's just not true. I do apologize for all the fandom stuff on lj, though- I don't expect everyone to want to read it, it's just what I've enjoyed writing about lately. Stuff like this, I don't particulary enjoy writing, but it is a bit cathartic.
Do you guys actually want to hear about my personal life?
(It's really boring.)
I guess I should start using this because so many people are
here? I don't know if that's a good reason, but it's probably a
true one.
I think this would be a nice service to get offline people to try-
though the current invite-only "exclusivity" is certainly a
factor. I thought everyone had gmail, but my brother found out I
had an account and is apparently quite jealous. (When I offered
him an invite, though, he turned it down. I don't think he wants
me to know his address.)
In the mean time, I'm trying to get my books listed. This will
take a while. I have a lot of books. And a total of, like,
20 cds, most of which I'm fairly ashamed to own, so that portion of the
site will be neglected for a while, heh. I agree with Emma, I
think it was, who said that there should be a games subcategory,
because that would actually be neat and interesting. Look, I have
how many copies of Final Fantasy VI?
Speaking of books, I finally got at least part of the Chrestomanci series that Nao
reccomended to me. I quite enjoy it, especially as I am a firm
believer in foppish wizards. All wizards ought to be
foppish. I'm going to try to get the other books in the series
tomorrow. I'm kind of in the mood for children's fantasy.
The problem is, I think I've read most of the major titles.
Though my current book collection doesn't reflect it, I've read, let's
see- The Chronicles of Narnia, The Dark is Rising Sequence, His Dark Materials, The Chronicles of Prydain, Harry Potter, assorted novels by Tamora Pierce, of course the Old Kingdom
books and other stuff by Garth Nix, there are, I'm sure, some I am
forgetting. I suppose I should dedicate myself to those wizards
books by Duane, but I can't ever seem to get through the first
one. I have such a short attention span. So I guess I'm
asking for reccomendations in the genre. They don't need to have foppish wizards, though that certainly is a plus. I don't want to have to go back to The Wheel of Time again for a while. I have a maximum Rand intake per month.
Hey look, a new one of these things. Just remember to shoot me if I ever sign up for myspace.
This is pretty decent from what I've seen, although what really makes a service is the community it attracts. It's certainly pretty, although everything is so big. The books feature is definitely nice for me, though. I went ahead and added stuff I've read in the past week or so. I'm kind of on a light reading summer holdiay phase, if you couldn't tell.
Edit: The lack of HTML formatting will take some getting used to.
